Ulster Folk and Transport Museum (028 9042 8428)The Ulster Folk and Transport Museum recreates Northern Irish life as it was a century ago. Historic houses, schools, Churches and Dills have been brought here and faithfully restored. Visit a typical village and chat to the friendly ‘residents’ as they cook soda bread on an open fire, weave linen or make candles. The Transport Museum houses lreland's finest collection of vintage vehicles, an amazing and eclectic collection of trams, cars, bicycles, buses and aircraft - all in mint condition!

Crawfordsburn Country Park (028 9185 3621)Crawfordsburn Country Park, an estate handed down from the Scottish Presbyterian Crawford family, then acquired by Lord Dufferin and now in public hands. lts glens and dells are replete with beeches, cypresses, exotic conifers, cedars and rhododendrons but the park's best features are the wildflower meadow and the woodland planted with native species. The Park Centre has a cafe and information on local ecology and wildlife.
Mount Stewart House and Gardens (028 4278 8387)Situated in Portaferry Road, Newtownards. Former home to a fascinating array of political leaders and society figures, this magnificent stately home's gardens are amongst the finest in Europe, with an unrivalled collection of plants and flowers. This is one of Northern lreland's most popular National Trust properties and the landscaped park was voted European Gardens of inspiration 2003.
Bushmills Distillery (028 2073 1521)The Old Bushmills Distillery is the world's oldest licensed whiskey distillery, having received its licence to distil in 1608. The Distillery is unique in that it is the only active Irish distillery to be open to the public. Local Attractions
The Glens of AntrimThe famous Nine Glens of Antrim is an area of outstanding beauty with its rugged coastlines, woodlands, rivers, waterfalls, wildlife and breathtaking views. The nine glens, all along the Antrim Coast Road are: Glenarm, Glencloy, Glenariff, Glenaan, Glencorp, Glenshesk, Glentaisie, Glenballyeamon and Glendun. These beautiful glens are all easily accessible and ideal for touring. It is well worth taking the time to explore this area of unique beauty.
Castle Espie Bird Sanctuary - Comber County Down (02891 874146)Set on the banks of the stunning Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland where almost the entire population of Light-bellied Brent Geese reside during the winter months. For this reason the Castle Espie foreshore is part of the Strangford Lough Ramsar site. Throughout the year this tranquil and friendly centre is a real delight and a must for the whole family. Stormont Parliament BuildingsStormont is a public park which remains open until 7.30pm. Pedestrians can walk from the main gates to the statue of Carson, along the Prince of Wales Avenue and can also enjoy the glen walk and visit the excellent facilities at the children's playground. Visitors to Parliament Buildings are welcome to view the Great Hall however guided visits for groups must be sponsored, in advance, by an Assembly Member. |
