Above all, Northern Ireland is a place with heart, where you can always stop for a chat. Our roads bring back the joy of touring - even when you’re in the heart of the country, you’re never too far from the sea!
Our historical links are also waiting to be explored. Our 60 mile long St. Patrick’s Trail connects 15 sites, allowing you to follow St. Patrick’s footsteps. Then there are the Mourne Mountains, the inspiration for Belfast born C.S. Lewis’ Narnia. According to folklore, if you can see the Mournes, it’s going to rain, if you can’t, it’s already raining. Don’t take this too seriously though!
Belfast’s exuberant architecture stands as testament to the city’s industrial history. The iconic cranes of the Harland and Wolff shipyard, birthplace of RMS Titanic, form a frame on Belfast’s skyline and are affectionately known by locals as ‘Samson and Goliath’. Enjoy one of the many city tours on offer, to uncover all there is to know.
Londonderry, also known as Derry, has an eventful history that began over 1,400 years ago. Fought over and besieged many times by the Irish and English, the city’s four hundred year old walls, complete with cannons, are among the best preserved city walls in Europe. Stroll along them, before deciding which cultural site to visit next – Saint Columb’s Cathedral, or the magnificent Guildhall are two popular options.
The Sperrins and County Tyrone continue the uniqueness of Northern Ireland, with stunning rolling landscapes, unique tourist attractions and not forgetting Ireland’s oldest dam, at Dungannon Park. Plus there’s more – County Down and the Ards Peninsula offers tranquil, rural landscapes and pretty seaside towns and villages. Hillsborough, a pretty Georgian village is home to the annual Oyster Festival, while Greyabbey is noted for its antique shops.
